Introduction

What Sparta Fitness is, who it's for, and the ideas behind it.

Sparta Fitness is a group fitness tracking app for people who train better with friends. You log your workouts and daily activity, your group sees it on a monthly leaderboard, and you build a streak one active day at a time.

It runs natively on iPhone, Android and Wear OS, and stays in sync across all your devices.

What you can do

  • Log workouts with custom templates, sets, reps and weights. Or quick-check-in a run, a sport or any active day.
  • Join groups with friends or teammates and see everyone’s progress in one place.
  • Compete on monthly leaderboards ranked by active days.
  • Track streaks across every active day you log.
  • Earn badges for hitting milestones.
  • Pull in workouts from Strava, Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung Health and anything that writes to Apple Health or Health Connect. See the integrations guide for setup.

The core idea: active days

Most fitness apps are built around individual workouts. Sparta is built around active days. Every workout, run, sport or check-in counts as one active day. Duration and intensity don’t matter.

That sounds simple, and it is. The point is to reward showing up, not optimizing volume. A 20-minute run counts the same as a two-hour lift. The friend who works out every day wins, not the one who pushed hardest on Saturday.

This shapes everything else in the app:

  • Leaderboards reset monthly so anyone can catch up.
  • Streaks count calendar days, not workouts.
  • Groups stay motivated because the metric is consistency, not strength.

Who it’s for

Sparta is designed for:

  • Friend groups who want a shared, low-friction way to keep each other accountable.
  • Teams and clubs running monthly fitness challenges.
  • Individuals who train better with a streak to protect.

It’s not a coaching app, a nutrition tracker or a wearable replacement. It pairs well with whatever you already use. Bring your workouts in through Apple Health or Health Connect, and Sparta handles the social layer.

How groups work

You can create a group, invite friends with a code and start a month together. Everyone’s active days roll up into a single ranked board. At the start of the next month, the board resets and a new race begins.

Groups are private by default. Nobody outside your group sees your activity.

Privacy and your data

Sparta only collects what’s needed to run the app: your name, email (via Google Sign-In) and the workouts and activities you log. We don’t sell data, don’t show ads and don’t ask for medical information.

For the full breakdown, see the privacy policy.
